I’ve recorded a little impromptu talk here (with an equally impromptu demonstration) of how I’ve been working with poetry lately and crossing the bridge from speech to song. The lines I’m demonstrating come from a poem by St. Teresa of Avila. I also make reference to my friend Wende Bartley, a Toronto composer and writer who has been a tremendous mentor to me in the sound and voice department.
If you are interested in joining me to explore this bridge between speech and song, please contact me because I am gathering a small group in October that I’m calling “Poetic Voices.”
Speech to Song
The cartoon is by me (of course!)
Fascinating!
I loved this. And it reminded me of this reading by a three-year-old that I love. Aren’t we all blessed when he recites it?
Oh my goodness, Alexia! At first I couldn’t even believe this was real. What an amazing child. And what music there is bursting through his whole being. I’ve watched him a few times round. Can’t get over it! THANK YOU so much for your post!!
