There’s a holy moment in “The Little Match Girl” when the orphan girl is out in the cold on the last day of the year. She’s been lighting single matches, using all her powers of light to envision a better world for herself. Each time, the vision fades and at last she decides to throw caution to the wind and light all her matches at once. In that illumined moment, the spirit of her beloved grandmother appears and whisks her into the heavens.
I let my voice find this holy moment and give expression to it … so here is my improvisation. A little musical light for the solstice, offered to you with love and blessings.

I love, love, love listening to this Michelle!
I’ve listened to it several times and each time, am transported into another realm. Haunting, mesmerizing.
Those are perfect descriptor, Gilles–mesmerizing and haunting. I could replay the recording all day, Mich. Thanks so much for this special gift.
